The Gyro Project Opens Eighth Restaurant in Northvale, New Jersey

The Gyro Project, a fast-fine Greek restaurant known for its authentic street food flavors, has opened its eighth location in Northvale, New Jersey, on April 23, 2023. The restaurant is situated at 269 Livingston Street and adds to the brand's expansion in the Tri-State area, specifically in Bergen County. To commemorate its debut, a ribbon-cutting ceremony was held on April 22, attended by co-owners George Tenedios and Spiro Kokkosis, along with Northvale Mayor Joseph E.
McGuire and community members. The Northvale site, which spans approximately 2,500 square feet, accommodates 50 guests and provides both dine-in and takeout options. The menu will feature popular offerings from the flagship Fort Lee location, including various gyro pita wraps (chicken, pork, and beef/lamb), hearty platters with rice and salad, traditional mezedes such as tzatziki and hummus, loaded Greek fries, and Greek frozen yogurt.
The brand was founded in July 2023 by childhood friends Tenedios and Kokkosis to offer high-quality Greek cuisine in New York and New Jersey. The opening celebration included $5 gyros for the first 100 in-store guests, starting at 5 PM on grand opening day. Tenedios expressed excitement about the continued growth in New Jersey, noting the significance of returning to their initial market while expanding in Bergen County.
In terms of growth, The Gyro Project continues to rapidly expand its footprint across the Tri-State area, with recent openings in several locations: Murray Hill (February 2026), Garment District (November 2025), Midtown East (September 2025), Taverna by The Gyro Project at Hudson Yards (August 2025), Upper West Side (April 2025), and Junction at Gateway Center in Newark, NJ (March 2025). The brand's ninth location is expected to open soon. The Gyro Project aims to blend tradition with a contemporary dining experience, further establishing its presence in the fast-casual dining segment focused on high-quality Greek cuisine.
